How to Convert GPA to Percentage in Nepal?

Nepal uses multiple grading systems depending on the institution and level of study. The two most common are the NEB 4.0 GPA system (used for SEE, Grade 11 & 12) and the TU Semester system (used by Tribhuvan University for bachelor's and master's programs).

NEB / SEE Formula

Percentage = GPA × 25  (for NEB 4.0 scale)

For example, 3.6 GPA × 25 = 90% (A+ / Outstanding). This is specific to the NEB letter grading system introduced in 2015.

TU Semester System

Tribhuvan University uses a 4.0 GPA scale for its semester system. The minimum pass requirements are: ≥50% in External Exam (Grade Point 2.7), pass in individual paper, and a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (60%) overall.

Percentage ≈ (GPA ÷ 4.0) × 100  (approximate for TU)

International / Generic Scales

  • 4.0 Scale (US): GPA ÷ 4.0 × 100 = Percentage
  • 10.0 Scale (India/Global): GPA × 9.5 or GPA ÷ 10 × 100
  • 5.0 Scale: GPA ÷ 5.0 × 100 = Percentage

Always verify with your specific institution, as some universities apply custom formulas for their grading policies.
